Sorry currently sold out!
In colonial days, we would have spent our leisure time as amateur wood carvers, whittling figures in dashing uniforms with propellers for arms, made from materials available. Children would run with these figures in their small hands and the propellers would whirl in the wind. Because this toy was quiet it was considered acceptable to bring to church, however lady pirates surely would have raised an eyebrow.
Each whirligig is uniquely created as it would have in the 18th century — hand carved from wood and hand painted — although these were made using modern tools and acrylic paint & brass furniture tacks. Original design (based on a colonial folk design, but altered) and each one handmade by me. Arms really do whirl!
Sword span of 10". Figure is approx. 10" tall from base.
It is not recommended to leave outdoors. Please note that little ones should be gentle with the whirligig as there are sharp/delicate parts. Otherwise, please enjoy. Kids love 'em.
